I created this blog to find my passion again, I was feeling lost, like I no longer knew who I was. Now, a lot has changed in the last 10 years of my life, the biggest change would be becoming a Mum. My beautiful children inspire me everyday. Inspire me to learn, to be better, to try harder, to be stronger, and to protect them. I realised, coupled with my passion for technology and teaching others, that perhaps all that inspiration and passion rolled together may help and inspire others. And so “the IT mum” was born.
So who am I really?
Well here’s the elevator pitch:
My name is Amy I am the founder of the IT mum. Since the start of the millennium (wow that makes me sound old) I have been passionate about IT and computers. It was then that I started my studies in Information Technology and Networking. I then worked in technology retail for several years while continuing study. I picked up fulltime employment with IT in a banking environment where my IT career really started and I learnt so much. Since then I have worked for a number of employers, from small business, to large enterprises and government departments. I continued to study a broad range of topics gaining further qualifications in information technology, vendor certifications, first aid, finance and training and assessment (and I am now completing further studies in adult education). While some may look at that list and find it a bit all over the place I wouldn’t change it for the world. It has made me who I am today. Today I am a strong, confident woman working in IT, who happens to be called “Mum” by 2 wonderful small people. I love to teach and help others. My experiences have allowed me to connect with so many people at all levels. So please, let me help you learn more about computers, the internet, social media, the “cloud”, online study and all the other stuff!
